A wide range of topics to engage and entertain with our Primetime This Week panel including:

During this week’s second quarter fiscal update, Finance Minister Joe Ceci said he hopes the province’s public sector unions will accept a wage freeze. Earlier this year Alberta’s teachers accepted a deal that had no salary increases over two years.Ceci’s comments are vastly different from the past when he declined to comment on contract talks in public.

The government is also extending the salary freeze for management and non-union employees to September 2019. There will also be a hiring freeze within the civil service. It will mostly be done through attrition.

Plus, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologized to LGBTQ public servants who were discriminated against because they were gay. Some of them were fired or forced to resign, some Canadians were even imprisoned.

The government set aside more than $100-million to compensate victims and criminal records for those convicted of consensual same sex activity will be expunged.

The province wants to make it easier for Albertans to get tickets to concerts and sporting events without having to pay inflated prices.Bot software is used to snap up a large number of tickets as soon as they go on sale, often forcing fans to pay a small fortune. With the proposed legislation, Ticketmaster would have to identify tickets purchased by bots and cancel them. Companies like Ticketmaster could also take those who use bots to court.

Some e-commerce experts suggest Ticketmaster would have to pay massive costs to fight the bots, which could lead to increased ticket prices for consumers.

Plus, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, put on a graphic protest in Calgary that included a woman dressed as a coyote trying to get out of a trap. There was also fake blood.

The protest primarily took aim at clothing manufacturer Canada Goose, but organizers say coyote trappers in Alberta are also to blame because they supply fur to the outdoor clothing manufacturer.
