B.C. vs Alberta; waiting for the next shoe to drop

The Alberta-B.C. impasse over expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline shows no signs of letting up.

On Monday, the John Horgan government announced it has launched a formal trade challenge of Alberta’s wine ban, which it says is threatening the livelihood of families working to build B.C.’s wine industry.

Premier Notley, meanwhile, has been promising to step-up Alberta’s response if B.C. does not step back this week from its threat to restrict bitumen shipments.

Putting The Alberta Party leadership race into perspective

Alberta Party members are just days away from picking their next leader. Online balloting begins Sunday with the victor to be announced one week from today.

Vying for the leadership are Calgary lawyer Kara Levis, Calgary-South East MLA Rick Fraser and former Edmonton mayor and PC cabinet minister Stephen Mandel.

The race was triggered in early November when former leader Greg Clark resigned, saying it was necessary to build the party ahead of the next provincial election.
