University of Alberta graduate Kenzie Gordon developed a video game that will help teach service industry staff how to intervene in potential sexual abuse situations. “It’s Your Move” is part of a training program offered by the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton and The University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre. Together, they’re offering this training to bar staff in Edmonton. Gordon developed the game after the sexual assault centres shared the challenges in role playing sexual assault situations as part of the training, so together, they’ve developed a training tool designed for bystander intervention. Gordon is currently partnering with both the sexual assault centres in developing the game further. Developers of the game hope this program becomes standard training everywhere.
