A wide range of topics to engage and entertain with our Primetime This Week panel including:

A cross-border battle over licence plates is underway in Alberta and Saskatchewan. This week Saskatchewan announced a ban on Alberta plates for all new government construction projects. That province is demanding Alberta companies register their vehicles in its province for government projects. Saskatchewan’s Highways Minister David Marit claims there’s a similar practice happening in Alberta.

The Alberta government denies those claims and is accusing Saskatchewan and its premier of violating an interprovincial trade deal.

“Brad Wall needs to smarten up,” said Alberta’s Economic Development Minister Deron Bilous. “He has one week to kill this ridiculous restriction or we will be taking him to court.”

Follwing that, racist tirade at a Calgary Superstore went viral this week. Witnesses allege it all started when a brown-skinned cashier rang up a man’s item twice. The man started yelling at the cashier and when another customer of a visible minority tried to calm him down, the irate customer shoved him and continued yelling racist insults.

Calgary police have spoken with the man who was caught on camera. There is no word on any charges.

Plus, Russia has been kicked out of the upcoming Olympics in South Korea as punishment for widespread doping. Individual athletes from the country can still compete at the Games but they must prove they’re clean. If approved, the athletes  would compete under the Olympic flag rather than their own country.

The allegations of doping came after the former head of Russia’s anti-doping lab said Russian agents cut a hole in the lab during the 2014 Sochi Games so samples positive for doping could be swapped out for clean ones.

Russian president Vladimir Putin says he will note tell the country’s athletes to boycott the Olympics if it’s proven they are clean.

Finally, a photo of a pricey box of tampons with a note left in a washroom at the Calgary airport has gone viral. Calgarian Carlee Field took the photo and shared it on social media site Reddit. The note from an anonymous woman explained none of the tampon dispensers in the area were working and she had to buy a box for $15 at an airport vendor. She left the box so other women wouldn’t face the same problem.

After the picture was posted on Reddit, it got a lot of attention. Shortly after, airport authority announced the machines were refilled and the tampon price was being lowered to $6.25.
