The judicial system often creates onlookers out of the public as it deals with crimes. While that’s part of the process, it can be difficult for those who weren’t always onlookers—but who once knew victims as family and friends.  This was the case for friends Lisa Madill and Geoff Starling, who each lost a loved one to homicide in recent years. Although the investigative and legal cases were out of their control, Madill and Starling have become partners in taking control of what they can: their grief.
