Violinist Sophie Serafino has performed around the world, but she calls Calgary home.
The internationally renowned violinist is accomplished in classical styles, but is known to push the boundaries of her instrument. She describes her style as world music fusion, influenced by many styles and very theatrical. Sophie loves to tell a story and perform for people.
Born in the UK and raised in Australia, Sophie is the daughter of two musicians and began playing the violin at age three. She studied throughout her childhood and in her teens began to explore other musical styles. The curiosity drove her to experiment with her instrument and her music.
