Our Politics Panel deep dives into Alberta Premiers; one current and one past.
- The Rachel Notley road trip resumes, with the Premier taking her pro-pipeline message to British Columbia. The multi-city tour recently made stops in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary, building a case for the controversial Trans Mountain expansion, and to ultimately get Alberta oil flowing to the West Coast. But will any of this have an impact on getting pipelines built and the oil flowing?
- Plus, former Alberta Premier Alison Redford is building a career beyond the scope of the Alberta Legislature. Redford spent two and a half years as Premier before resigning in 2014 under a cloud of fiscal mismanagement. Now, according to media reports, Redford has been hired as a policy advisor to Afghanistan’s Minister of Energy, a partnership said to involve the World Bank. The role will see her helping develop the war-torn nation’s oil and gas industry.
