Over 700 sexual offenses were reported last year to Edmonton Police, in Calgary that number was over 1,100. Many say the #MeToo movement has resulted in more men and women coming forward with their stories of sexual violence, coming forward in the hopes the attention that came from sharing that trauma will cultivate change. Some ask, what happens after #MeToo? How can we ensure survivors are empowered to continue to come forward? And that our communities are trained to handle disclosures? We take a look at a program offered by the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services aiming to do just that.
