At the heart of a new-to-Alberta method for treating alcoholism is a drug called naltrexone, a pleasure inhibiting drug that takes the euphoria out of alcohol consumption.

This method of treatment has been regarded in Finland for decades, for its allowance of a healthy relationship with alcohol.

Alavida treats patients using a combination naltrexone and one-on-one psychotherapy administered via secure video conference to a patients mobile device.

This way, doctors and psychologists can see more patients who may not be able to visit a brick and mortar centre.
