Central Albertans are waiting longer for surgery, and the lives of some are even at risk, that’s according to a group of doctors speaking out. A 2015 study found the Red Deer Hospital was short nearly 100 beds, 18 emergency stretches and three operating rooms. Doctors working at the hospital suggest those numbers might be higher now. Five local doctors have come together to form a non-profit society, a group pushing the government to put the project back on the priority list. What will it take to put Red Deer and the Central Alberta region back on the health funding radar?
