Aboriginal actor Gerald Auger has stepped away from the spotlight, moving behind the camera to take control of how First Nations people are portrayed on film.

Gerald Auger’s acting career began as a favour to a friend and quickly grew into an exciting career. He has now stepped out of the spotlight as an actor and behind the camera, making a career transition to directing and producing.

His roles required him to play to Aboriginal stereotypes, perpetuating an image he knew wasn’t authentic. In his new chapter, he is taking control over how his community is portrayed, and affecting the change that he was craving. Gerald also helps mentor Indigenous youth as well, guiding the next generation.
