Since 2015, the iKare4Kids initiative has helped keep families seeking serious medical care connected and informed. At the helm of the Edmonton volunteer-run program is Constable Deanna Hagen. Although iKare4kids differs greatly from her day-to-day job with the RCMP, these two ways she serves the public are closely connected. After a series of devastating and harmful events at work, and a number of personal losses, Hagen took time away from the RCMP to manage her PTSD. In doing so, she says she found another passion and started iKare4Kids. To get involved or donate, contact the group through their website.
