Every day, paramedics attend uncontrolled environments with a chance of being subjected to any number of potential dangers.

Crisis intervention training was once a critical part of a paramedic’s skill set, but some say it's dangerously inadequate after an event earlier this year that saw two paramedics in Calgary injured during a call.

Another issue that concerns paramedics is a lack of resources so severe they’re calling it a ‘heath crisis’.

The Health Sciences Association of Alberta, which represents paramedics, said this has resulted in wait times stretching up to 45 minutes for an ambulance in some parts of the province.
