Marigold Mioc and her mom Lily Ahonen have been making and selling headbands at Calgary’s markets for the last four years. The pair was saving up for a trip to France when the 2015 Paris attacks forced them to change their plans. Instead, Marigold asked to use the money to help sponsor a Syrian refugee family. Since then, the nine-year-old has taken an interest in politics and current affairs, earning recognition for her community service. Most recently, the mom-daughter duo returned from a trip to Kenya with One Woman, One Girl and We Foundation. Marigold shares her ambitious plans.
